What can you do with this kit?
Build your own water pump and watch the water level rise, taking the ball with it until it raises the roof. The Connex 38807 kit pulls water in through the bottom tubing with the pump then when it reaches the top tube gravity pulls it back into the water tray creating a closed loop. With 23 pieces this is a fun kit to make and play with.
What does this teach?
Learn all about how forces and pressure affects water in this educational kit. Water will only naturally run downhill with gravity acting on it. In order to make water move upwards there needs to be other forces, usually in the form of pressure. The pressure of the water pushes against atmospheric pressure and gravity so when the water pressure is higher the water moves upwards. If the pressure is high enough it can move other objects that floats with it, like the ball in this game and wells use this to bring water up from deep underground. Switch the motor off and watch the water slowly fall again as gravity becomes more powerful than the water pressure.
